My Subjects

Introduction

Hi mom this is my electronic portfolio, here you will see
some of my wonderful work i've done this year. Two things I'm good at are
adding, multiplying, subtracting, and dividing Integers. I am also good at
id Physical Education. One thing I need to work on is art. My goal is to be
better in basketball and work harder on math.

Math

Term 1 Reflection

In term 1 I learned about rates, ratios, proportional reasoning and Pythagoras. This units was kinda easy but I did badly on problems because sometimes I misread it and sometimes I forget to put the important parts. We started the year with Rates, ratios, and proportional reasoning. I learned a lot of things about rates like how to find the unit price and unit rate. Ratios was easy to work with since its comparing 2 things or three things like two term ratios an three term ratios. At first proportional reasoning was confusing since I didn't know how to do it but after the teacher explained it, it became very easy. In Pythagoras I learned how to square root, perfect squares and I learned a very important formula it is, a2+b2=c2 or reverse is a=c2-b2. Last term I mostly did all my work, like the textbook work but the blogging was good but I forgot to put the tag so it counted as late. Next term I’m gonna try to do more work and do more work and ask more questions.

Term 2 Reflection

In term 2, I think I did good in some tests but not all. I really like the rectangular prism because its really easy to do and it’s not so difficult. The formula is LxWxH. I think did good on mostly all the tests because I didn’t have any trouble figuring out the problems. In term 2, I think I struggled with the blog the most because I haven’t comment on a lot and I did bad posts this year. Now i know that i should take some time off and put efort into my blog and comment on all of them or most of them. In term 3, I’ll try and get 85% or higher on the test and comment on all of the blogs. This term ill stop goofing off and pay attention in class so i can get 100% on the tests. In term 2, we learned about percent, surface area and volume. In term 2, we learned how to salve percents by converting it to get a decimal and a fraction. we also learned how to find taxes by using a ratio table and finding the GST and PST os the price. we learned how to find the area of a rectangular prism by the formula LxWxH. There are other shapes like a cylinder and a triangular prism too but they are a little bit harder.

TASK : What was I asked to do for this assignment?
I was required to compose a friendly letter using information from a short story.

INTENT : Why am I completing this assignment?
There are several reasons I am doing this writing assignment. First I learned the elements of a short story and I learned to identify them in a our story. Next, we learned the components to write in a friendly letter format. Then we applied specific story details and wrote in the first person as if we were a character in the story.

CRITERIA : How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completely
this assignment?
· Use proper Friendly letter format referring to letter frame
· Make a rough copy letter using specific details from the short story and write the letter from the perspective of one of the main characters in the story
· Use appropriate tone and audience for the letter
· Complete all steps in the writing process as set out in the assignment directions

The man who planted trees

3) I can relate to “The Man Who Planted Trees” in many ways. First, like Elzéard, I am a man concerned about the environment. Why shouldn't I be? It gives us many resources that allow us to live. At my school, I remember the elementary kids planting trees around the play structure. This is also like Elzéard.
5) I think there are many reasons why people and organizations approach the environment. One reason, probably the best of all, is because some people plant trees just for the sake of the environment. I said that this reason was probably the best because these people aren’t looking for the money, they just want to make a brighter future. Another reason is just to bribe the people for votes for something like an election. I’ve seen politicians like this, they say they want to be green to the environment, but once they win the election, what happens to that idea? It never happens. On the other hand, there are the people who cut down trees for the money. I could imagine that paper making is a big business, so many companies probably cut down a lot of trees. The thing about this is that they often do not plant more trees after, and that really harms the environment.
6) Jean - Jean treated the forest like a second home. He always came there after his wars and see how Elzéard and his forest were doing.
The charcoal burners - They did not care about the forest.
Elzéard Bouffier - Elzéard treated the forest with a lot of care. It was his home and his life. He would plant trees every day until he had a huge forest. Elzéard’s tree planting was enough to revive a nearby village
Government Official - The government official wanted the forest just for the fame and fortune .
Member of Parliament - The Member of Parliament used the forest as something to get votes. He declared that it belonged to the people of France. At the time of World War II, he suggested that the trees should be cut down for steam trains.
Timber merchants - They were greedy
Villagers - The villagers did not know who made the forest.
10) Trees affect the local level because it is used to make fire. It is also used for things like furniture, and tools. On a global level, trees produce oxygen which helps us breathe
